Crucible Comic Press is an independent British comics publisher launched in 2018 by John Freeman. We created this standalone site to complement the comic and media news site, downthetubes.net, in February 2026.

We will be posting some items here for paying subscribers in future – new strip material for example – in future, but we haven’t set subscription rates up yet. If you subscribe to our site for free now, you'll get access to all public posts on this site for free, as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available.

Who runs this site?

John Freeman is a British comics writer, editor and independent publisher who has worked for Marvel UK, Titan Magazines and more. I run the comic news site downthetubes.net; and I have previously edited titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Star Trek Magazine (later known as Star Trek Explorer), Babylon 5 Magazine, STRIP: The Adventure Comics Magazine, and many other titles.
