Fumettomania seeks contributions for its Special Project: Dan Dare

downthetubes Italian partner, the Fumettomania Factory Association, who are enthusiasts of British comics and have supported work of organisations here in the UK, recently launched one of their “Special Projects”, a series of articles devoted to Eagle comic star Dan Dare – and they are looking for contributions, in the form of art and articles.

Here’s the full text of their appeal: if you’re interested in contributing, drop them a line via their website

“We are writing to let you know about the initiative we at Fumettomania are working on: the SPECIAL PROJECT DAN DARE or, as we call it in Italian, SPECIALE DAN DARE.

”We have planned it as a section of the Association’s website in which a new contribution will be uploaded every seven days, on Thursday. Contributions can be artistic or essayistic in nature.

“In the first case, these are artistic contributions such as illustrations or short comics or short stories.

“In the second case, these are articles that deal with different themes, for example, they tell the editorial life of the character, or they talk about people or structures that have contributed to the creation of his adventures or to promote knowledge of the character, or they describe works on Dan Dare in other media other than Comics, etc.

”Up until now we have uploaded all the first contributions… the eighth will be an article about Dan Dare radio serials; the ninth will be an article about the strip published from 2003 in the magazine Spaceship Away;... and more.

“We are writing you to ask if you would like to contribute to the Special, drawing an illustration or a one-page comic dedicated to Dan Dare.”
